Urodynamic Test

What is Urodynamic Test?

Urodynamics refers to a group of tests used to assess the function of the urinary tract by measuring various aspects of urine storage and evacuation.

The purpose of urodynamic testing is to aid in understanding physiologic mechanisms of lower urinary tract dysfunction, thereby improving the accuracy of diagnosis and facilitating targeted treatment. Urodynamic evaluation is useful mainly in women with complicated stress urinary incontinence or mixed incontinence. Urodynamic testing may also help clarify the mechanisms of overflow incontinence. Urge incontinence seldom requires urodynamic testing except in cases where the patient does not respond to conservative management.
