How do I know if I suffer from recurrent UTI?
If you have had 2 or more UTI’s in the last 6 months or 3 or more in the last year, you may be suffering from Recurrent UTI. UTI stands for Urinary Tract Infection and is caused by some strain of bacteria entering the urethra and traveling up to the bladder, typically causing burning with urination, urinary frequency, and sometimes pelvic pain. UTI’s can be easily treated with antibiotics if treated properly and early on. However, if you suffer from multiple UTI’s in a short period of time, you run the risk of becoming resistant to certain antibiotics by taking them too often. Finding out the cause of the recurrent infections and ways to prevent them in the future to minimize discomfort and inconvenience is our goal when treating patients with recurrent UTI’s.
