What is overactive bladder?
Overactive bladder (OAB) is a condition characterized by the combination of urinary urgency and urinary frequency. People suffering from OAB may find themselves waking up multiple times throughout the night to urinate as well as go frequently throughout the day, despite the amount of liquids they consume. OAB may or may not involve symptoms of urinary incontinence and can be an extreme nuisance for those who do not have constant access to a restroom.
How can OAB be treated?
Fortunately, there are a variety of approaches that can be taken to help improve the symptoms associated with overactive bladder. As an initial approach, there are a variety of anticholinergic medications that can be used. We understand that each patient is different and it may take a few trials and error efforts to find out which medication works best for you. For those who are not interested in taking medication, or have severe enough symptoms where supplementing with in-office procedures would provide the best possible outcome, the options of *PTNS* and *Biofeedback* are also available to our patients.
